Carving a PUMPKIN UNDER WATER! This last weekend Dan, Rochelle, Ben, Paul, Robyn, Randy, Pat went to Lost Creek Reservoir (Lake) and participated in the annual PUMPKIN Carving Dive. Usually we go to the Smith River but this year all the rain last week made the river to swift so we went to the lake. At the Smith River you go down abt 40 ft. At the lake went only went down 20 feet. It was still a lot of fun! Here we are prepping for the event.

Launching the Pumpkins... It's harder than you might think.
Pumpkins like to float. You have to put a rock inside and force it down.
Here's Paul and Rochelle bringing in the pumpkin.
Here's Ben with his.....
Randy's....
Here's a pumpkin on the water.....
These are the finished Pumpkins....

That is crazy, who ever thought that up?! Crazy, but in a fun way, I will specify. Way to go winning the underwater camera! And the parking sign, and the candy bar :) Glad y'all had a good time and that it wasn't too cold!
awww... I really wish I could scuba. My ears would explode though. ;)
What a fun idea. I wish we had video somehow of everyone trying to carve under water. heheh.
Looks fun, so if you lose the pumpkin does it shoot to the top pretty quick?
The interesting thing about the pumpkin under water is 1) it Does have a rock in it 2) when you get down deep it doesn't try to float up. In fact you have to drag it around. Until you get shallower and then it will try and float.
Who was your photographer anyways???
-Robyn
Our photographer was ROBYN. ok sorry I forgot to mention your terrific camera skills.
Wow! I've never heard of such a thing!! That is SO COOL!!!! I'm confused though . . . you carve before or after you're underwater?
